Synopsis

In 1942, the Japanese cargo ship Lisbon Maru, carrying over 1,800 British prisoners of war, was torpedoed by an American submarine near the Zhoushan Islands. Braving the threat of Japanese reprisals, the villagers of Dongji risked their lives to rescue the stranded British servicemen.
